Streamlining the rescue and distribution of food across New Zealand to help those in need
SITUATION
New Zealand Food Network (NZFN) started during the COVID-19 times in 2020, from the founders of KiwiHarvest. They were a rapidly established organisation to provide a national network, dedicated to addressing the growing issue of food scarcity and wastage across the country.
The heart of the operations are to connect supply and demand through a centralised distribution hub. Smaller food banks can not accept tonnes of food into their limited space. So the NZFN provides the critical link between food donors including Sanitarium, Turners & Growers, Fonterra and regional food hubs.
SOLUTION
GravityLab was a key partner that helped NZFN select, design and roll out their infrastructure at pace. We built a Salesforce / Experience Cloud solution to track donations and integrate into their warehouse management software.
The system on Salesforce runs the smarts to ensure food rescue organisations get access to a fair allocation of product in quantities they can manage without the additional challenges of how to store it.
This project was a huge success and allowed food distributors to be in a stronger position to get food to people who need it as quickly and efficiently as possible. A project we are proud to be a part of.
“I have implemented business infrastructure, processes and enabling systems in 12 countries over a 28 year career, and GravityLab has exceeded all expectations. Ours was an important project (establishing a national network to source waste food and distribute it to people in need across New Zealand) and we stood up an entirely new business in some 16 weeks. This could not have occurred without the professionalism, product knowledge and support of GravityLab. Every single GravityLab Consultant assigned to our Project would rate as some of the best I have had the pleasure of working with anywhere in the world. Outstanding.”
